What is Tiger Challenge?
It's Teach Elementary Booster Club main fundraiser of the year. It helps fund the programs and experiences that make Teach unique, especially our overnight science camps.
These camps are a major part of the Teach experience. They give students hands-on learning opportunities, build independence, strengthen friendships, and create memories that last long after the school year ends.
Tiger Challenge also helps support day field trips, assemblies, engineering and innovation projects, classroom enrichment, community-building events, yearbooks, and more.
Teach Elementary is a public school, but these overnight science camps are not covered by the school district. SLCUSD provides a small stipend for 6th grade science camp, but that amount covers only about 1% of the total cost of Teach’s overnight science camps. The remaining cost is funded primarily through Teach Booster Club fundraising, especially Tiger Challenge.
All students attend camp regardless of their family’s ability to meet the suggested fundraising goal. However, we need broad participation from our Teach community to keep these camp experiences possible for current and future students.

Because Teach is a small school serving only 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students, traditional school-wide fundraisers do not raise the same amount they might at a larger elementary school. Tiger Challenge is the primary way our school community raises the funds needed to support these programs.
The 2026 Tiger Challenge school-wide fundraising goal is $165,000. To reach this goal, the suggested fundraising target is $950 per student/family. We know $950 is a lot of money, and families reach this goal in many different ways. Every donation and every effort helps.
Tiger Challenge 2026 runs from September 9th through October 16th, and it culminates with a special Games Day celebration on Friday, October 16th. Each student will receive a Tiger Challenge T-shirt to wear as they participate in games and celebrate our Teach community.
Although the official campaign runs for five weeks, families are welcome to start fundraising earlier if they wish. Some students choose to raise money over the summer and then turn in their donations during the Tiger Challenge period.

Checks may be made payable to Teach Booster Club. Cash or check donations may be
sent to school in the Tiger Challenge donation envelope.

At Teach, we encourage students to take an active role and get creative with their fundraising. We will have weekly prizes for creative student fundraisers! Here are some student fundraising ideas:
Lemonade stand
Garage sale or yard sale
Bake sale
Craft or artwork sale
Plant sale
Car wash
Pet walking
Babysitting or mother’s helper
Chores for neighbors
Recycling collection
Letter-writing campaign to family and friends
Families can also help by sharing their student’s 99Pledges page, checking for employer matching, asking a local business to become a Tiger Challenge Business Sponsor, or donating directly.

Tiger Tally Fridays
Students may return donation envelopes on Tiger Tally Fridays so donations can be counted toward weekly updates, classroom totals, and prize eligibility. All donations cash and electronic will be reported on 99Pledges.
Each week, we will recognize:
A Most Creative Student-Driven Fundraiser selected from submitted entries
A weekly raffle winner selected from students who fundraised that week
To help Tiger Tally Fridays run as smoothly as possible, families are encouraged to deposit student-raised cash or coins at home and make the donation through their student’s 99Pledges page, or send a check made payable to Teach Booster Club.
Cash and coins are still accepted, but online donations and checks are much easier for our volunteer team to process.

Games Day
Games Day
Tiger Challenge ends with Games Day on Friday, October 16th. Students will celebrate their fundraising efforts with relay races, field games, school spirit activities, and a pizza lunch provided to all students by SLCUSD Food Services. Students are placed in mixed-grade teams to promote teamwork, fitness, and Teach community spirit.
Top fundraising students and classes will also be recognized on Games Day. Families are invited to bring their own lunch and join students for a picnic-style Lunch on the Lawn.

Tiger Challenge is all about supporting science camps and enrichment for all Teach students, but we also love celebrating student effort, creativity, and teamwork along the way!
Weekly Prizes
Every Tiger Tally Friday, students will have a chance to be recognized in two ways:
Individual Most Creative Student-Led Fundraiser: Students who come up with a creative way to raise funds may submit the Creative Fundraiser Form for a chance to win.
Individual Participant Raffle: Students who participate in fundraising that week will be entered into a weekly raffle.

Individual Prizes
Top Fundraiser Overall will receive 2 season passes to The Ravine Water Park.
2nd Highest Fundraiser Overall will receive 3 tickets for an awesome experience at The Puzzle Effect Escape Rooms in SLO.
Top Fundraiser in Each Class will get to be Teacher for a Day.
Classroom Prizes
Highest Overall Fundraising Class: The class with the highest total amount raised will earn an Ice Cream Sundae Bar Party.
Highest Per-Student Average Class: The class with the highest average amount raised per student will earn an Ice Cream Sundae Bar Party, plus 30 minutes of extra recess.
The biggest prize is what Tiger Challenge makes possible for all Teach students: overnight science camps, field trips, enrichment projects, assemblies, and the special Teach traditions students remember. Thank you for your generosity!
